2023 Presidency: Meet the wives of Nigerian presidential hopefuls

They say behind every successful man is a woman and most often, that woman happens to be his wife.
These women support their husbands through thick and thin and sometimes sacrifice their careers to support the ambitions of their husbands.
In Nigeria, the situation is no different.
The wives of most politicians shield themselves from the limelight to make sure their husbands get all the fame and support.
As the 2023 general elections draw nearer, political parties have just concluded choosing their presidential candidates who would be competing for the seat in Aso Rock Villa come 2023.
The ruling party, All Progressive Party(APC) choose its candidate, in the person of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who emerged winner of the presidential primaries held at Eagles Square, Abuja.
The main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) elected former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate.
The Labour Party, LP, also has former Anambra State Governor, Dr. Peter Obi, as its candidate.
Prince Malik Ado-Ibrahim (YPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso (NNPP), Omoyele Sowore (AAC), Prince Adewole Adebayo (SDP) and Kola Abiola (PRP) also emerged as presidential candidates for their various parties after completion of presidential primaries.

Oluremi Tinubu is the wife of Bola Tinubu and former first lady of Lagos State and currently a senator representing Lagos Central Senatorial District at the Nigerian National Assembly and a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) political party.
She is also an ordained pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.
Her ordination took place in 2018 at the Old Arena of RCCG, Lagos/Ibadan Expressway where the church held its 66th annual convention themed “Dominion”. She is also Grand Matron of the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO).
The couple has been married since 1987 and has three children together.
2. Amina Titi Atiku-Abubakar
Amina Titilayo Atiku-Abubakar first of the four wives of former vice president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar.
She is an advocate of women and child rights, the founder of the Women Trafficking and Child Labour Eradication Foundation (WOTCLEF) and the initiator of the private bill that led to the establishment of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).
She is the mother of four of Atiku Abubakar’s children: Fatima, Adamu, Halima and Aminu.
She is the author of a number of books including, “Educating The Nigerian child” and “Empowering Law To Fight Child Slavery.”
3. Margaret Brownson Usen
Margaret Brownson Usen, a.k.a. Margaret Obi, is the Wife of Peter Obi and they got married in the year 1992. Margaret is the driving force behind her husband’s National Gender Affirmative Action, which ensured that women received at least half of the seats in Obi’s cabinet.
Margaret is recognized for her humility, despite her intelligence, which she kept disguised while working tirelessly and invisibly to boost her husband’s administration’s popularity. She is also noted for her unwavering commitment to women’s empowerment and child welfare.
She also helped the state’s Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development (MWAPD) establish Family Courts to deal with child abuse and violations of women’s rights, including widows’ right to inheritance.
4. Opeyemi Oluwole Sowore
Opeyemi Oluwole Sowore is the Nigerian American wife of Omoyele Sowore. She came to public view after several advocacies for Omoyele Sowore to be released after the journalist was rearrested by the Department of State Services on charges of threat to National Security including treasonable felony, cyberstalking and money laundering on December 6, being earlier arrested on August 3, 2019
She has led several protests and discourses over the detention of her husband by the Department of State Services including leading protesters to the United Nations Plaza in New York on September 24, 2019, advocating global intervention from Democracy Now and the US Senate into the release of Omoyele.
She is the Vice President, Head of Consumer Engagement at Teladoc Health having previously led as an executive at American Express, Citigroup and Delta Air Lines.
She holds a BA from the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1995 and an MBA from the Simon School of Business at the University of Rochester in 1997.

Queen Lillian Adebayo, wife of Barrister Adewole Adebayo, President of KAFTAN TV and presidential candidate of SDP.
6. Olayinka Abiola
The presidential candidate of PRP Kola Abiola was married to Olayinka Abiola, who died on the night of Saturday, October 16, 2010 in Los Angeles, California.
She was in her mid-40s and the daughter of late notable entrepreneur Chief (Mrs.) Bose Onilere. She was Kola Abiola’s second wife, the first being Victoria Arafat.
7. Adama Indimi
Daughter of Borno billionaire and Oil Magnate, Mohammed Indimi, Adama Indimi is married to Prince Malik Ado-Ibrahim.
Adama Indimi is a Nigerian model and the Chief Executive Officer and founder of Kauna Solutions Ltd(a travel agency). She is the daughter of oil magnate billionaire businessman Alhaji Mohammed Indimi the owner of Oriental Energy Resources.
8. Salamatu Rabiu Musa
Salamatu Rabiu Musa is married to Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso the presidential candidate for NNPP.
They got married in 2000. He has two childen, A’isha, Al-Amin and Mustapha Kwankwaso.
