France stars return to training in Doha ahead of Morocco clash. France’s stars – such as Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann – were seen back in training ahead of their semi-final clash with Morocco.

The reigning world champions booked their place in the final four of the Qatar World Cup after edging out England in a closely contested 2-1 quarter-final win on Saturday night.

Didier Deschamps’ side are now just two games away from retaining their world title and, ahead of their game on Wednesday night, the Les Bleus squad looked in good spirits out on the Doha training pitch.

It’s understood that Aurelien Tchouameni, who scored the opener against England, and defender Dayot Upamecano were both absent from training.

The French federation did not give any explanation for their absence, but sports daily L’Equipe reported that Upamecano had a sore throat and Tchouameni was suffering from a knock

Both players started against the Three Lions and have been integral to their campaign thus far, so Didier Deschamps will be hoping they’ll be available ahead of their clash in two days time.

PSG forward Mbappe was seen joking around with team-mates Antoine Griezmann and Ousmane Dembele out on the Doha training pitch.

The 23-year-old has lit up the tournament in Qatar and remains the top scorer in the competition with a tally of five goals.

France have had a depleted squad this tournament with stars such as Paul Pogba, N’Golo Kante, Christopher Nkunku and Karim Benzema all injured.

However, that hasn’t stopped their charge to retain their World Cup title following their 2018 triumph in Russia with a 4-2 win over Croatia in the final.

There’s a chance the two sides meet again in this year’s rendition of the competition with the European outfit currently preparing themselves for a semi-final clash with Argentina.

France will take on Morocco – who beat Portugal in dramatic fashion on Saturday – on Wednesday evening
