Harry Maguire Marries Childhood Sweetheart Fern Hawkins
On Thursday, the Manchester United defender reportedly left training just after midday to meet his fiancee at Crewe Registry Office for a private ceremony, while they’re planning a more lavish ceremony in France this summer.
Maguire and Hawkins, both 29, met more than 10 years ago when they were teenagers, and they will take their marriage vows again in a romantic chateau ceremony.
They kept the details of this week’s nuptials secret from everyone except their closest family and friends with only a small group of guests attending on Thursday.
Maguire arrived just before 3pm, while his parents Zoe and Alan came over from Sheffield for the special day.
An insider told the Daily Mirror: ‘It was a closely guarded secret to all but their closest family and friends.
They wanted to be officially married in the UK before they head to France. That will be a fairytale wedding day for Fern.’
For the ceremony in Burgundy, Harry’s brothers Laurence, 25, and Joe, 30, will attend alongside England team mate Jordan Pickford, whose wife Megan Davison will be a bridesmaid alongside Harry’s 21-year-old sister Daisy.
